  1. I got a 175 widow new in 77 raised it to a few wins but one day in the 3rd month I
    Was on it and the front wheel and forks separated from the farm because the steering stem snapped in two I spent a week in a hospital and have a few pains still it was a wheely monster which was what I was doing in 4th gear when it came apart guess I should have kept both tires on the ground and not fly it so high

  2. The fact that it won a couple of supercross races against the likes of Bob Hannah proved that properly set up it wasn’t that bad. TNT engine specs and fine-tuning the suspension would make it easier to win on. Pretty much every Can Am needed some tweaking, but then so did a lot of bikes back then.

    1. My first motocross bike I owned was the 1977 175 CanAm MX3 which I bought used in 1981 that had been raced & run into the ground & in dire need of repairs? Seat was garbage! Front rim bent & cracked! Clutch & transmission was shot! Ignition needed replaced! The only upside to the bike the owner had just had the upper/lower motor professionally ported/polished including a larger Bing carb/ rebuilt reworked crank & rod/bearings cyl +30/wiesco race piston/ replaced polished &reworked RV/ the 175 reworked mx3 jug was superior to the stock 250 mx3 output when run on the dyno by the local two stroke professional race engine builder @ that time he specialized in mercury reworked outboard racing two stroke boat engines! He was known as producing the fastest outboard motors of the day back then! I payed $500 for the mx3 bike! The original owner put $1200 into the engine then I turned around & sold it for $1500 & made +$350 before that black widow put a death bite on me! Looking back & should of kept that reworked 175 mx3 motor & mounted it on a used modern day light weight 125 motocross frame & chassis! Then you would have super handling high output ultra reving CanAm motocross bike that might be more competitive then the 1981 Maico mega 2 ? just in the smaller 250 class!
