Lots of emails about the Pulpmx Show this past Monday and a few other things, here’s the best of them. As usual, these are actual emails from actual people.

Steve what the fuck is your problem? Why do you have to put other people down? You are constantly attempting to find fault, point out a mistake or a -mis speak-, always cutting off callers and guests, fuck dude, let people talk! This last pulp show you were so fucking bad! Let the show be about your guest’s and your callers! Get off your “know it all” high horse, this show could be so good without your Shit! Let it go, let Kenny be himself and quit putting him down!- Keith
Keith-Thank you for the letter, I will try to let Kenny be his own man and blossom like the lovely butterfly that he is.
Matthes, you over weight basset hound loving fool! You are the man to start up and keep an amazing moto related show going! I have tried to do such things only to quit because of total failure.
Ok enough blowing up your bubble now onto Kenny’s…
I listen to the show on my 20-30 minute drive to and from work each week. This past week I kept hearing about callers calling in and praising the ole mighty one. And his response was he wanted to win team manager of the year.
Well to me the team manager of the year should not only be considered because of their “riders” performance or yearend standings. I have not witnessed it yet, but hope to soon is H&H’s fan appreciation. It seems that some of the riders forget all the thousands of fans they are racing for. Most factory teams seem like you are bothering them in between motos while they are
carrying around their cookie cutters. H&H realize that the fans are a huge part of this industry, and it is awesome to hear all the “happy” fans leaving the H&H rig.
To me K-Dub should be team manager of the year just because he is who he is….
1. He understands most fans
2. He doesn’t sugar coat shit
3. Kennybonics
4. He has a legit team
5. To show motochick what she is missing
6. Funny as shit
7. Look great on his match.com profile
And note if he does win I think he should show up to the banquet or whatever it is to accept the award with pink or blue hair. That would be awesome to show those dudes at Honda and pretty much tell them to “Suck It!”
Thanks, Never Was
PS- Oh I’m gonna be at Vegas in May what are the chancabilities of Kenny showing me around the H&H rig, or should I bring a noose to hang myself?
Thanks for the letter and I passed it on to Kenny- Please come home, we miss you.
First of all I LOVE THE SHOW! It took me a while but I think Kenny is great. I didn’t care for him when I first started listening to the show, but after listening to a few shows I really enjoy him “Telling it like it is”. So those of you who don’t like to hear the truth grow a set. Also Kenny, when my wife and I did get to see your bikes (in racer x) we loved them. Steve -great job. I really appreciate the effort all of you guys put into the show. Anyway just wanted to say thanks. Raider up!!!!!!!!!!!-Paul
All I can say to that is again, Kenny, please come home we miss you.
I first of all want to tell you I have been a Steve Matthes the journalist fan for a long time, and got a chance to tell you that a few years ago at supercross round in SLC. I’m also a big fan of the PulpMX show, and I think that what you and Kenny bring/brought to the show is critical to making it entertaining as well as informative. I also appreciate the addition of Mr. Legendary, Tits, to the team, although I’m a little concerned about the new dynamic. Although some of the first shows with all three of you have been epic, there has been an increasing negative tension in your previously amicable relations.
As much as I love Tits, I can’t help but think that the recent introduction of a threesome has lent itself to your issues, issues brought home by Kenny “taking a break” the other night. As with any relationship, there appears to be some posturing going on, as people take turns throwing poop on each other like a bunch of monkeys, flexing egos, and comparing the size of their tools. So, I thought that I could give you some advice I found on “making threesomes work”, and pass it on in the hopes that
you guys can work it out:
The threesome is as old as time itself and every day there are couples who are biting the bullet and trying it out for themselves. There are a lot of horror stories out there about what a threesome will do to your relationship. While some people have a very negative experience, others find that if they
just have some ground rules that a threesome can be a very enjoyable experience time and again. There are some basic rules that may help you get started talking about what you are comfortable with and what direction you would like the threesome to take you. Respect and communication are keys to keeping it together.
1. Establish the rules ahead of time. Sit down and really talk about what you are comfortable with when it comes to the threesome. Some people say no penetration, others say no oral, and still others say no kissing. You need to define what the limitations are. It’s important that you talk about this beforehand so you know where you all stand so that the experience can be enjoyable instead of hurtful. (Make sure you know the boundaries so you don’t get hurt screwing with each other)
2. Take your time. Take your time choosing the right person. Many people make the mistake of choosing the first available person or someone that they are close to just because it is convenient. Take your time and give some serious consideration to who you choose to have a threesome with and what, if any, problems this may cause afterward. Make sure that the relationship you meet doesn’t permantly change the one that brought you here.
3. Give as much as you want to get. Many people get very selfish when it comes to having a threesome. If you just sit back and you expect to be pleased without giving anything back, chances are you will end up a spectator in the whole thing. Give as good as you want to get!
4. Don’t hurry through the process. If you rush through the process of having a threesome it’ll be over before you know it. Instead, take your time, enjoy the foreplay and the build up, because once it’s over–it’s over! Many people are far too excited and the result is that they don’t enjoy themselves as much as they could have.
5. Be safe and make a clean break. Of course, when you have a threesome you need to be sure that you are as safe as possible. Keep it clean. This should be your top priority whether you have been together in the past before, or not. You need to keep to the rules and make a clean break when it’s over, so that you keep those boundaries in place from beginning to end. Threesomes are only fun if you keep your boundaries in place and protect yourself throughout the process!
As always I, and I’m sure the rest of your listeners, appreciate the job that you guys do, and sincerely hope that you guys are honestly having as much fun making the show as we have listening to it. And although this email is a little tongue in cheek (no pun intended for you three) I hope that you all seriously do keep it together. It’s tough to tell how close you all are to actually really pissing each other off, and it would suck if that happened, because what you bring to the table is the best show in motocross.
Sincerely,
Nephi Cole, The Siol Scientist
Yep, these are the listeners of the Pulpmx show!
Matthes, Pourcel was there playing racquetball…he looked healthy and fit. I asked him if he was going to ride this year and he said he didn’t know. He said he was good to race but wasn’t sure. I was hoping I could get some info…but he was pretty tight lipped. Maybe just can’t get a deal he likes huh??? What have you heard? Thanks…Craig
I hope we can see him outdoors also. I heard this week the rumor is Reed’s team, then I heard TLD again.
Hey Steve,
Love the PulpMX show, I listen every week on Stitcher while I’m at work. I feel obligated to put in my 2 cents. What the hell is Kenny’s deal? I like the guy. He is entertaining as hell and has tons of great stories. But the guy talks shit about all the callers, and tells them to hang themselves. Then the guy acts like a little baby when the shit gets talked back to him. Last week he gave you the silent treatment, and this week he walked off the show. Man up.
Next, Tits was right (kind of) Pookie should be on the show. I’ve never seen her, but she sounds hot and that’s all that really matters. But Tits said she should replace Kenny, when i think she should really replace Tits. The guy is too damn mono-tone and brings the show down a few steps.
One last thing. When I watched KW go down while he was leading, I noticed something that I haven’t heard anyone else mention. He went down right after he lapped James. It looked to me like he did a little double take like “was that James?”.Do you think that could have thrown him off. I only saw it during the actual broadcast, and I haven’t gone back to watch it again. But it looked to me like he looked back at him right before he messed up the section. Am I crazy?- Jason
Jason, thank you for the letter and you’re right, Pookie is hot. She is getting a bit of a big head with these types of letters and tweets to her though. I’m going to have to lock her in the closet again. I texted Kevin about the lapping James thing because you weren’t the only guy I heard this from and he replied with “He (James) doesn’t make a good lapper but nope, not his fault at all.”
Dear Pulpmx, I love reading your columns on racer x but seriously, van Hagar??? It’s barely even rock! DLR sang about good shit (sex, drugs, rock n roll, ya know fun stuff) plus during the DLR years Eddie absolutely shredded on the guitar. I love synthesizers n all but van Hagar in my opinion just pales in comparison to the real Van Halen! I think they didn’t reach the sales of van Hagar as they didn’t appeal to women with they’re music, probably cause they are just objects to DLR…. I urge you to listen to all the tracks on the van Halen albums and you’ll appreciate Eddie on the guitar and how fun and upbeat all their songs are!! Keep up the good work in the Mx world, your columns are always funny and entertaining!
Steve
Hey Steve, The numbers and my ears back me up bro.
Steve-While listening the MC podcast the story of Roger’s wayward son came up, I laughed out loud,
His name is Kitch,
I was only 18 and my old man had shouted me a trip to the Osaka Supercross, the 125 class was part of the pan pacific series that went through asia, nz and Australia, we had flown over with the Kiwi rider who was leading the series at the time that my old man sponsored, it was late 1995,
We were the first flight in, and since this was the time of pre internet and it took months to get any info form magazines that finally ended up at this end of the world we were pretty green, the Aussie 125 rider arrived next and then we were told by the Japanese person looking after us that we would be waiting for another flight to arrive with more riders on it, I asked to see the list of who was coming and was amazed by the list, that included about every factory US rider, MC was on top of the list followed by Jeff Emig (on a Kawasaki that we had not heard about yet) Lamson, Guy Cooper, Timmy , Windom, Dowd, all these guys I had only seen on TV and videos, when they all walked onto the bus my mouth hit the floor,
Since we were all in the same hotel and taking the bus back and forward every day to the track we got talking to a few guys, Kitch was very friendly and told us he was brought out to Japan because his old man felt it was cheaper than repairing the house when they got home,
The race went well, with the Kiwi rider winning the 125 class, which meant we got to go to the press conference, which meant we got to come back to the hotel with the 250 guys that went to the press conference in a Hiace Van, to this day it is still a highlight this minivan had MC, Larry Ward and his mechanic, Myself and Andrew the Kiwi Rider, the Japanese interpreter/host, with Larry and MC joking about the woman they had got in Paris the week before, it was a pretty hilarious conversation, especially to this wide eyed kid,
When we got back to the Hotel, Kitch was waiting for us, and we decided to hit a local Karaoke Bar, Timmy joined us and it got messy, it was a Sunday night and not to many people around, jugs of Japanese beer and sake flowed, and I remember the bar was on the bottom of an apartment tower and the residents kept coming down to get them to turn the music down that Kitch kept turning up,
Timmy ended up throwing up in the in ground toilets they had in the bar, Kitch was on fine form chatting up the barmaid, it was a hell of a night and a very sick flight home the next day, we called into the same place for a coffee and the barmen that was there last night was getting a very stern talking to by a man that looked pretty mad,
It was a hell of a trip, it was the first time I had ever seen American riders, it was pretty awesome to watch,
Scott
That’s an awesome story for sure and I confirmed it all with Ferry. Well, not really- he said to me “I went to Japan?”
Steve,
I am loving all the content you are putting out lately. Honestly, I hardly have time to listen to Howard anymore with all you podcasts and the moto show, and those DMXS guys too.
You’ve been talking about getting Hannah on a lot lately, and he was always my favorite since I was a kid. I also hated Kent Howerton because he was Bob’s arch enemy. So, I was thinking, why not to a podcast with Kent first. Especially since Hannah’s side of the story has been told over and over and I don’t think we’ve ever heard anything from Kent’s side. It would be killer.
Another interesting guy from those times would be Marty Tripes. Nowadays we learn so much about all the riders, but back in those days it was pretty much a mystery. Tripes was always interesting, and sometimes the fastest guy on two wheels, often the only guy to beat Hannah heads up. Why could he not ever put it all together? Also, I’d love to hear his side of the infamous waterskiing accident.
Lastly, I agree with you that the four strokes have ruined SX. Compared to videos of years past, it is a snoozefest. Corner speed is down, and not so important anymore when you have 60 tractable horsepower at your beck and call anyway. Twisting the grip results in entire staightaways cleared practically. Really, it looks a lot like a freestyle contest and we all know those kooks
can’t ride for real, aside from a few with moto credentials.
I’d love to see two strokes come back, but I won’t hold my breath. Short of that, how about putting the premier class on 250f’s. Then the lites class could ride 125’s, or 250 two strokes, or stock 250f’s, whatever works really. Getting long winded here, and didn’t intend to. Thanks for keeping me
entertained, Lee
