Ahhhh St. Louis…the motor city. The track was technical and tricky resulting in lots of mistakes and no lack of excitement. It’s nice to see these riders look human on a motorcycle for a change. This article isn’t about my opinions if you’re looking for that read Swisscorner. I agree with most of Swiss’s recap and introspection and commonly find myself nodding in agreement while reading, I bet you will too.
The 7 deuce deuce came up six inches short of a foot long. While in qualifying position in the LCQ he threw it away in one of those technical sections I was talking about, and it was really really really really wack. They were literally bar2bar when Aaron Gulley stuck it in Jake Baumert on the last lap for the last transfer spot, it was a great battle banging bars in three or four corners in a row.
Shout out to PulpMX superfan and circle jerky Roogs who got down on the floor in St. Louis to take photos. It’s no easy task to get media photo credentials and I know Roogs has been trying for a while, very cool he pulled it off. Check him out at roogsphotos.com and @roogs209 on twitter. I’m not sure what he was more pumped about the credentials or the selfie with Jenny Taft.
#91 Jake Baumert – Crosley Radio, RiderSurance, BeeLine
Remember that photo finish at Daytona in the 250 LCQ, well Jake was the guy in all black that qualified and Zimmer was the guy who came up Just Short. It was a great photo finish lets take another look at it shall we, courtesy of Swisscore.
Daytona LCQ Thriller |
Jake has a website, not enough riders have websites anymore, go check his out at jakebaumert.com I was confused by this Crosley Radio as a sponsor I mean who still buys radios? Curiosity got the best of me and I clicked the link on his website, they have some cool stuff. As the proud owner of an old record player I liked the vintage look of their music playing devices.
The all blacked out gear is cool, it looks good and it hides dirt well he probably doesn’t have to wash his gear as often. |
When I don’t know anything about a rider I ask Matthes and he usually points me in the right direction. This week that sent me to Weege for some insight into who Jake Baumert is.
#228 Daniel Meynet – Me, The privateer journey, Fly Racing, Galfer, VP fuels
I think Daniel is French, based on the way he just pronounced Meynet in the RacerX privateer video. Correction he just said his name is Swiss not French. Daniel fractured his collarbone at A2 and he was off about 3 weeks. It’s just Daniel and his dad driving to the races in a motorhome every week. So for training he does a rowing machine in the hallway of the motorhome, which is awesome. Leave it to Weege to ask Daniel his height and weight, 6’ 2”, 180 pounds. Maybe Weege is good luck because Daniel qualified for his first main event “shortly” after the interview in Toronto.
Purple White and Red is not a good color combo with Green, now we know. |
This was the first “Know your 450SX Privateers” I’ve watched on Racer X and it’s good, I’ll be checking out some more of these videos. You can watch it here http://racerxonline.com/2014/03/25/racer-x-filmsknow-your-450sx-privateers-with-daniel-meynet
Jake provides a simple description with sponsor list and website link, he nailed it so to speak. His profile picture is so dark though I can’t tell what it’s a picture of. Meynet leaves you guessing with no description, playing hard to get I assume. The followers/following ratios are good with both these guys but Meynet needs to step up his posts he’s really trailing with only 75 posts, take pictures of your food we need to know what you are eating. |
Rutted corner pictures here from both guys, but from different angles. Jakes picture is better proving railing rut pictures are better from the front than the rear. I was going to incorporate a joke about sluts but I’m too classy for that. |
Jake does his best muscle competition finishing move. Meynet shows us the benefits of diet and exercise is girls always touching your abs. Clearly Meynet is doing topless posts better. |
Both riders had pictures from my hometown national Washougal, I can almost smell the fresh air from here. This jump Jake posted if very popular among riders and photographers, I come across a lot of pictures of this jump, the background scenery definitely helps. Meynet has a picture of the uphill, nothing quite like holding it wide open all the way to the top all while dodging roost the entire way. There are no losers with Washougal pictures everyone wins. |
Jakes has zero chance of pulling a good start from this outside gate but it’s a cool picture. Meynet displays perfect starting position it looks like Rusk might have gotten the jump on him though. |
This is one of those pictures you don’t have a good reference point so it appears Jake is going to land in a tree, I prefer a slightly more zoomed out picture so I can get my bearings and grasp the comings and goings. GoPro whip in a SX by Meynet, that’s a cool photo, I’m not sure if he made it blurry around the edges with a filter or the GoPro just captured it blurry but that’s my only complaint. Meynet whip > Jake whip. |
Ironically Jakes picture tends to lead to Meynet’s picture, they go hand in hand so to speak. |
