Alex Ray #314
You can take the guy out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of the guy. Since the series turned East (and South for that matter), Alex Ray has been battling for a spot in the main. The Tennessee native has come up Just Short in three out of the last six races. In Detroit, he made the main and finished 19th, whereas in Indy, his sub-frame gave way while leading the LCQ. In St. Louis, Ray was in 8th after the first lap of the LCQ, but climbed up to 5th place by the checkered flag. While the K1 Speed/ BWR engine rider has been consistently on the bubble of making the mains, something was off in St. Louis. No, not his riding…His traditional pink helmet (Pinky) and JT gear had been replaced with a new Arai lid and Fly Racing gear. Let’s hope we see the 314 in the main in Houston, or we might have to start a “Just Short Documentary feat. Alex Ray”. All kidding aside, Alex Ray has really turned it up since the East coast rounds, and I believe he will definitely make more mains this year.
P.S. – Fantasy guys, include the 314 in your main. You will thank me later!
