Nashville! Cowboy hats. Bars. Bridal showers. Live music. This is what I think about when it comes to Nashville. However, we had Supercross blow into town on Saturday and it got crazy with crashes, East/West Showdowns, stuck throttles, blown shocks and lots more, so let’s dive in.
J Lawrence: Looks like Jett had something to prove and it showed as he pulled out eight seconds on a absolutely crazy fast looking Tomac. Jett never did anything crazy and it looked like he was taking his time once again, but if you go bak and watch the race again, watch how he makes time in corners, especially the corner after the whoops. No rut, no problem. Oh you want to put sand in , ok, watch me make time up in that section as well. Getting a start was needed on this track and he delivered with a top five start. He let his riding do the rest.
Tomac: OMG! I thought the first couple laps Eli was going to gap everyone. However, Kenny wasn’t going anywhere, but holy hell did Tomac look like he was riding an outdoor track for a little bit. He jumped the double after the mechanic row just so he could do something to try to separate himself from everyone else. It didn’t quite work but it worked on everyone but Jett. I still hear people say he can’t win, but I think that is nonsense. I also hear that we might see Eli grace his presence for the whole outdoor season too! He’s not done yet, people!
Roczen: Well that sucked. What is crazy, is I had a shock do this same thing to me, except mine exploded upon impact off a jump. I went ejecto seato, cuz. Crazy to think that the shock body came apart which is extremely rare. We will have to wait for the MRI results to see if we lost Kenny for the rest of the series. Like a fine wine, he keeps getting better with age so let’s hope it’s not that bad.
Sexton: A malfunction of the throttle and a swordfish air? Seems odd, but from what we witnessed on Saturday night, it does seem odd that Chase would have a Larry Loop Out. I don’t know if we will EVER get the real answer on what happened but Chases wasn’t in contention to win the night but now he’s out of the series points chase. Lame!
Bloss: The giraffe got an eighth! Benny was the last rider to get lapped in the main event and it took Jett a long time to get him once he was close. Credit goes out to B2 for getting better and helping the brand Beta get better. If it wasn’t for Benny, this team would be in a world of hurt right now.
J. Hill: The baddest SOUL RIDER there is to date. This dude can do it all! Congrats on 100 Josh.
Hampshire: You think Husqvarna keeps Rick for the 450 class next year? They should! Seems like RJ needs to be a little fired up to be able to put a win together so look for the likable Floridian to keep that fire burning especially now that he has a two point lead in the west! Looks like the west put it to the east coast boys which isn’t shocking considering the way the track was. Kitchen helped RJ by going down but in this sport you just never know right?
Jo Shimoda: Another western rider but this time this westerner was BEST DRESSED! If you didn’t like the peach on this Fox gear then we have some problems! I mean I HATE peaches but this stuff was awesome! Jo needed this good result, especially because it was an east/west race. It shows us as well as Honda that he can be near the leader the end of a main event. Jo hasn’t won a race but its coming. Glad to see Honda Stan behind their guy a little bit!
Vialle; A Motocross World Champion in the points lead? Sounds normal right, but if you watched Vialle last year, you might have not believed it! Sure he got some help from Cameron’s practice crash, but you have to be in it to win it and Vialle has been on that path since day 1. He was not altering what he was doing, just because he wasn’t winning the series, he didn’t freak out. Smart minds win world titles. We will see how he closes this out but it looks to be his to lose.
Swoll: The lone rider over at Triumph now that Ferry has mutually agreed to part ways with the British manufacturer. A solid fifth place deserves some recognition with a stacked east/west class that we had in Nashville. I know the team changed a couple engine pieces and got the motor even better for Jalek so look for the team to continue to keep building for outdoors. This is where we will see Jalek have a teammate in Joey Savatgy. Can Triumph hit the podium before year’s end? I wouldn’t bet against them or Swoll.
