I have been listening to your podcasts for some time now, and also enjoying your articles on TWMX (and Racer X). The point of my email is to say thanks as it is great to see someone with such enthusiasm for our sport. It is fantastic to get your perspective on all things MX. Your humour is injected into everything you do and touching on some of the older MX stuff is great.

People in general are always quick to criticise, and not so quick to compliment. I have seen one or two disparaging remarks on comments from some of the sites directed towards you and feel these are unfair. Although everyone has an opinion which they are free to share, perhaps some of these people should take a look at themselves, and also about the genuine passion for our sport, which you show in abundance.

Hopefully you do not take any notice of the idiots on the web, but it has prompted me to at least write this as a thank you for all you are doing. Your highlighting MX in the general public arena, giving us all, racers and fans alike, an insight into aspects of MX that we don’t often think about is unparalleled.

Thanks again Steve. It’s great that you are such a fan and you are sharing this with us all.

Thanks Mark and with that, lets read another letter from someone who, uhhhh, doesn’t really like my stuff:

Hey Matthes…

You think and act like you know everything about mx and sx but in reality you’re a fat goofball that just loves Tim Ferry. You don’t realize that these racers work hard and deserve all try there best. They are out there racing at the highest level something that I’m sure you could never do. You’re not funny at all and your deal about always eating and mooching off the teams is old. Guys like J-Law and Hanny are what is needed in this sport and no one cares what you think about them, they are getting our sport more mainstream exposure than you could ever do so you should just shut up.

I’m over you as are the readers of twmx, you should be fired because you suck as a writer and everything you do is shitty. I won’t be reading or listening to anything you do anymore so that I don’t have to put up with your agenda or ferry-loving, know it all, TMZ of motocross writing.

I think I’m doing it right when you get letters like the two that I have put down here. The world needs all types I have learned. Having said that, 95% of my emails are positive and I thank all of you for that.
