This past weekend at Jacksonville, a nice bloke from England found me in the pits and gave me some old magazines with the hopes that some of the stuff finds it way onto this site. People helping people, people! Here are a few old-school ads from those mags along with some other stuff.

For the mx’er that has everything, get him a pair of pants with the kidney belt built in! DeCoster’s alliance with Gold Belt worked about as well as signing Ben Riddle did. I don’t ever remember seeing this stuff on one person in real life or in pictures. |
Clover gear. I’ll take the stuff Geboers is wearing please. Not the stuff that looks like I’m an extra in a bad Star Wars remake. |
If you cut Burnworth and Lechien’s mullets off, you would have enough hair to sell to a taxidermist for a grizzly bear. Looking good guys, looking good. |
I think Eddie Cole is a genius but I also think he struck out on this ad if he approved it. It’s O’Mara, Hannah, Luiness, Haines, Hansen blowing into a pipe (perhaps that’s where Josh got it from) and some other people in leather standing around. Are they O’Show’s bodyguards? Friends? Lovers? I don’t really know but I think they missed the mark with this one. |
A great shot of RJ in the always good looking blue/red American stuff I believe he debuted at this race. I loved it when he wore one red boot and one blue one with this get up. There’s a shot of Rick’s holeshot at the USGP this year and it’s massive. |
"Bad" Brad Lackey scares the shit out of me in this ad. I’d also be scared if I had to wear the goggles. |
Another iconic cover of Hannah and the shootout bikes buried in the sand. If you look close at the two page spread, you can see the cable that is holding the back wheels up. Still a cool shot. |
I always loved this cover for a few reasons. One is that I had an ’89 KX125 and was into this issue. Two is I have always loved JT helmets and gear so this looked hella-cool to me. And three, it’s a great shot. Years later this guy, Rich Taylor, is my boss at X-Brand goggles. Sweet Jesus has RT ever been on a ton of covers… |
