Photos by James Lissimore/Captions by Jason Thomas You only went to the starting straight away anyway. Rubik’s Cubes are to SX suspension as Triple Crown formats are to awesomeness. Even when I am not using my own phone, somehow I get caught looking at one. I think this is Phil but it could be Justin Hill. Looks angry so I will go with Phil. AC blocking out the haters like… Weege sporting the FLY Travel jacket and still working on his beard game. This was a cool idea for the National Anthem. Matthes, take your damn hat off already. Poetry in flight. If you want to see why and how the elite riders are going faster, this is a good example. If you want to see how most of the world jumps, see below. So this is a different jump and unfair example compared to above but it gives you an idea of the difference between scrubbing and not. Modern supercross is all about jumping lower and faster. I won’t say anything about Shane’s gear. I won’t say anything about Shane’s gear. I won’t say anything about Shane’s gear. I won’t say anything about Shane’s gear. I won’t say anything about Shane’s gear. I won’t say anything about Shane’s gear. I won’t say anything about Shane’s gear. It’s tough to do it better than Blake is doing it here. Eli has it dialed also. The metal grates are still a learning process for most of the teams and riders to find consistency. The Orange County salvage yard has some really nice items this time of year. Deano is still fighting through a shoulder injury and I am sure would hope to be pictured further into the front of the pack than this. Kenny wore his 2017 gear color that he got hurt in last year. I am not sure if that was a good move, bad move, or didn’t matter at all but he certainly looked to be fighting some mental demons. Blake and Weston battled the entire third main event for fifth overall. Eli, well, he had better plans apparently. Marv was unable to finish the night and lost even more points to the championship leaders. Woulda coulda shoulda for Cole Seely. He rode so well but a bad start in the final main event kept him off of the top step. Great performance, though. A-Pless didn’t have a great night in Anaheim. His starts were the biggest problem which isn’t a new problem, unfortunately. Have you ever seen that show “Seconds from Disaster”? That’s Vince Friese in this photo. Cole Seely impressed by pressuring Eli Tomac and nearly making a pass. I had been tossing around Matthes’s prediction of multiple wins for Seely but I was blessed that Tomac was still the class of the field. I must fess up that this whole caption was to see how many times I could amass a word with back to back S’s in it. These two have made every main event so far and that’s a legit accomplishment. The 450 class is a war zone. Sexton will win very soon. His learning curve is impressive. I have a feeling Mitch and crew told these mechanics something involving a last lap and focus. “Hey, Joey, other side bro! I’m over here! Oh well, I will catch you back at the truck.” I still believe the title comes down to these two. Champagne is sticky, burns your eyes, and is definitely not on Aldon Baker’s diet program but there is simply no better feeling after a night’s racing. Lissimore
