Chase Sexton gave Kawasaki their first win in the Supercross Premier Class since 2022 at Anaheim 2. A 53 race gap between wins.
This was a pretty long gap, especially for a brand as successful as Kawasaki. How does this win gap compare historically to other brands?
I will only be including manufacturers still competing today. So I won’t include brands like Can-Am, who last won a supercross race in 1977. That would be a pretty long win gap present until today! I will also only start counting from the manufacturer’s first win. I’ll include the races it took for a brand to win from debut until first win at the bottom. Just looking at the Premier Class for this.
First lets look at the active streaks:
Active Manufacturer Premier Class Win Gaps
| Rank | Races Between Wins | Manufacturer | Race 1 | Race 1 Winner | Race 2 | Race 2 Winner |
| 1 | 40 | GasGas | 2023 Rd14 East Rutherford | Justin Barcia | Active Streak | |
| 2 | 17 | Honda | 2025 Rd03 Anaheim 2 | Jett Lawrence | Active Streak | |
| 3 | 15 | Husqvarna | 2025 Rd05 Tampa | Malcolm Stewart | Active Streak | |
| 4 | 12 | Suzuki | 2025 Rd08 Daytona | Ken Roczen | Active Streak | |
| 5 | 5 | Yamaha | 2025 Rd15 Pittsburgh | Cooper Webb | Active Streak | |
| 6 | 1 | KTM | 2026 Rd02 San Diego | Eli Tomac | Active Streak | |
| 7 | 0 | Kawasaki | 2026 Rd03 Anaheim 2 | Chase Sexton | Active Streak |
- Not sure if GasGas is really counting anymore, but they haven’t won a race since 2023 with Justin Barcia. Barcia has both the two wins from the GasGas brand.
- Honda comes in second here, this gap would be much smaller if Jett Lawrence stayed healthy. We’ll see if Hunter Lawrence can get his first career win this year. Maybe Joey Savatgy gets a win with how well he has been riding the last two rounds.
- Could see the Husqvarna streak going for a while unless Malcolm Stewart or RJ Hampshire get a surprise win.
On to the historical streaks!
Largest Manufacturer Premier Class Win Gaps | 1 Through 10
| Rank | Races Between Wins | Manufacturer | Race 1 | Race 1 Winner | Race 2 | Race 2 Winner |

| 10 | 46 | GasGas | 2021 Rd01 Houston 1 | Justin Barcia | 2023 Rd14 East Rutherford | Justin Barcia |
- Lots of Suzuki here! Four of the top five. Pretty crazy that the 111 race gap was two wins from Ken Roczen. It feels like Suzuki has had a bit of resurgence not only on the track but the consensus discussion off the track lately. That can be attributed to solely to Ken Roczen’s recent success. It felt like Suzuki was almost a laughing stock around 2021-2022.
- Yamaha is second here with a huge gap between James Stewart in 2012 and Justin Barcia in 2019. Another 7 year gap like Suzuki’s top gap. Two different eras here with James Stewart on JGR Yahama and Barcia on Factory Yamaha.
- We then get a set of three Suzuki gaps. Suzuki is the only brand consistently with theses long gaps of success.
- The Husqvarna gap from Zacho to Mookie probably could have gone for quite a while if not for Malcolm Stewart’s incredible win in Tampa last year. The 2020 victory from Zach Osborne was a factory Husqvarna podium sweep with Osborne, Jason Anderson and Dean Wilson.
- The longest Kawasaki streak was not the most recent one of Anderson to Sexton – its the 65 race gap between Jim Weinert and Jeff Ward.
- Tied for 8th we have two Kevin Windham wins and the most recent Kawasaki gap from Anderson to Sexton.
- Lastly, we have a pair of GasGas wins from Justin Barcia. 2021 Houston 1 was the season opener. Barcia won three straight season openers from 2019-2021. Barcia took the victory in the 2023 East Rutherford mud race.
Largest Manufacturer Premier Class Win Gaps | 11 Through 20

| 20 | 25 | Honda | 1980 Rd04 Atlanta | Chuck Sun | 1982 Rd01 Anaheim | Donnie Hansen |
| 25 | Honda | 2018 Rd10 Daytona | Justin Brayton | 2020 Rd02 St. Louis | Ken Roczen | |
| 25 | Kawasaki | 1990 Rd08 Pasadena | Jeff Ward | 1991 Rd16 Oklahoma City | Jeff Ward |
Note: I didn’t include GasGas’ active 40 race streak – not sure if this really counts with the factory GasGas team not competing this year.
- Tied for 11th, we have Ezra Lusk’s final career race win and James Stewart first ever Supercross win.
- The Husqvarna gap likely would have been another Jason Anderson victory in 2020, however, his seat fell off during the race while leading at Salt Lake City 7.
- The longest Honda gaps is a pair of 25 race gaps. If Hunter Lawrence (or someone else) doesn’t win for Honda in the next 8 rounds, that will become the longest streak ever for Honda.
You’ll notice there is no KTM here. Since Ryan Dungey’s first win for the brand in 2012. The longest KTM has ever gone between wins is just 13 races.
So what about how long it took for a Manufacturer to win a race after their debut?
Races Until First Supercross Win by Manufacturer
| Manufacturer | Races Until First Win | Notes |
| Husqvarna | 606 | If only counting since the 2015 comeback, Husqvarna would be 18 |
| KTM | 527 | |
| Beta | 32 | Active Streak |
| Yamaha | 15 | |
| Honda | 11 | |
| Suzuki | 8 | |
| Kawasaki | 7 | |
| Ducati | 3 | Active Streak |
| GasGas | 0 |
- It took 606 races from Husqvarna’s first result in Premier Class Supercross to their first win at Anaheim 1 2016. Husqvarna was out of the sport for many years in between these dates before a formal re-entry in 2015.
- If we only count since that 2015 re-entry, the total would be 18 races.
- KTM went 527 races from their debut until Ryan Dungey’s victory in Phoenix in 2012.
- Beta and Ducati currently have an active streak going.
- GasGas won on their debut!
