Photos by James Lissimore One moto only at a muddy, muddy, Canadian National… After two weekends of sunshine, the rain came out in a big way for Round 3 of the Rockstar Energy Canadian MX Tour series at McNabb MX, in Matthes’ home province of Manitoba. Duel red plates for the GDR Honda team. The only time people would see them all day. The Newf is enjoying the great weather. Mud strategy: Spray “Matthes in a Can” on everything and hope the mud doesn’t stick. Custom mud foam for Luke Renzland. Phil Nicoletti having the best day ever. Practice wasn’t too bad but this was the cleanest the riders would be all day. Luke Renzland stays clean for a couple corners by grabbing the 250 holeshot. Since the MRC decided to dock practically half the field two days after the race for various track cutting infractions, I really have no idea how to recap the 250 race so I’m just going ID the riders. Welcome to Canadian moto. Tyler Medaglia US Orange Brigade rider, Parker Mashburn, made the trip to McNabb. Marshall Weltin. Brad Nauditt. Tough day for Ryder Floyd. Dylan Wright took the win. Then he didn’t. Cole Thompson grabbed the 450 moto holeshot. Mike Alessi finished 9th. Legendary ride for Mike Brown as the former AMA National champion flirted with the podium all moto, eventually finishing 4th for the 47 year old. With Cheyenne Harmon getting injured the previous weekend, his Manluk team brought in Chase Marquier to fill in. 13th in his debut. Things started well with the holeshot but went to crap when Cole Thompson got stuck for a long time. He would eventually finish 11th. Mr. Consistency for Colton Facciotti as the 450 points leader finished second. Up and down for Phil Nicoletti, who worked his way up to 4th before falling and dropping to 6th. Dakota Alix slogged through the mud, sans visor or goggles, to grab 3rd. Anytime the conditions are soft, Matt Goerke is going to be a favourite and the Kawi rider rode away to take the win. Impressive ride for the 3-time Canadian Champ, as he broke a finger at the previous round and almost didn’t race. Lissimore
