Through the first four rounds of Pro Motocross in 2026, Jett and Hunter Lawrence have shared the overall podium twice with Haiden Deegan. I predict this will happen several more times throughout the year.
Meanwhile the 250MX class has been different with no rider podiuming all four rounds.
So throughout the history of motocross which three riders have shared the podium the most in 450MX and 250MX? In this article, we’ll find out. The order the riders finished doesn’t matter here, just if they were on the podium together.
I have overall podiums for both classes as well as moto finishes for both classes too. I recently went through all the old Cycle News archives to gather the moto finish data from the 1970s.
All data in this article will be as of 6/25/26. Lets get into it! Riders will be listed in alphabetical order starting with first name. Keep in mind this will just be the 450MX class history for the 450s.
450MX Class Shared Overall Podiums
| Rank | Count | Riders |
| 1 | 9 | Chad Reed & Kevin Windham & Ricky Carmichael |
| 2 | 8 | Eli Tomac & Ken Roczen & Ryan Dungey |
| 8 | Eli Tomac & Ken Roczen & Marvin Musquin | |
| 4 | 7 | Jeff Ward & Johnny O’Mara & Rick Johnson |
| 7 | Jeff Emig & Jeremy McGrath & Mike LaRocco | |
| 7 | Kevin Windham & Ricky Carmichael & Tim Ferry | |
| 7 | Justin Barcia & Ryan Dungey & Ryan Villopoto | |
| 8 | 6 | Bob Hannah & Kent Howerton & Marty Tripes |
| 6 | Chase Sexton & Eli Tomac & Jason Anderson | |
| 10 | 5 | Bob Hannah & Donnie Hansen & Kent Howerton |
| 5 | Damon Bradshaw & Jean-Michel Bayle & Jeff Stanton | |
| 5 | Chad Reed & James Stewart & Ricky Carmichael | |
| 5 | Ernesto Fonseca & Kevin Windham & Ricky Carmichael | |
| 5 | Chad Reed & Ryan Dungey & Ryan Villopoto | |
| 5 | Chase Sexton & Dylan Ferrandis & Jett Lawrence |
- A bit of suprise that the highest number for Overalls is just 9. There has been 568 total 450MX events in history so this was a bit lower than I expected.
- Not really a surprise to see Carmichael leading the way here. Ricky, Windham and Reed collected all these from 2004-2006.
- Interesting that the tie for second is Tomac/Roczen and then a split between Dungey and Musquin. Especially given that Dungey & Musquin’s 450MX career only overlapped for the first 3 rounds of 2016.
- It is interesting that a lot of these combos really only span over the course of a 2-3 seasons. This probably makes sense given when riders have their peaks and are healthy but for example all of Sexton, Tomac and Anderson’s combos come in 2022.
- The dominant trio of the mid 2000s, Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart and Chad Reed have just 5 shared podiums in 450MX. Makes sense given how much Stewart crashed early in his 450MX career. This trio is by far the leader of this stat in Supercross.
Onto moto finishes:

- Tomac, Roczen and Musquin jump ahead here but there is a lot of carry over here.
- How about Tim Ferry in third?
- Again, I am a bit surprised that the numbers are as low as they are with how many motos throughout history.
Onto the 250s…

| 4 | Hunter Lawrence & Jett Lawrence & Jo Shimoda |
- I expected lower numbers for the 250MX class but surprisingly the leader in 250MX is just two behind 450MX.
- 3 way tie for first, all of which are older combos! Mark Barnett in two of them!
- AC, Ferrandis and Justin Cooper combo all came from 2019.
- Not too surprising to see a lot of ties here for the 8th through 18 spots.

- 15 combined moto podiums for Jeff Ward, Johnny O’Mara and Mark Barnett!!
- 12 for Myerscough, Glover and Barnett as well.
- I would not have guessed Deegan, Vialle and Shimoda would have been this high on the list.
- The Blake Baggett, Dean Wilson and Tyla Rattray combo absolutely dominated the 2011 250MX season.
- 2007 had Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley dominating. Dungey was third behind those two.
- Lots of Lawrence brother combos on here.
Thanks for reading! Now that I have all the moto history in my database, there is probably a lot I can do with it going forward!
