The first practice sessions are going on right now at a pristine High Point Raceway. The riders are shaking out the bikes and the track and seeing just how hard they are going to push it.

The points races are very tight, the tension is high and the drama is heavy. There is rain in the forecast but hopefully, it blows through and we see a great day of racing.
At least that’s what I would think it would be like but I’m in Pittsburgh airport waiting for my bag. Last night they lost it and despite promises that it would be here at 7AM. It’s not. Now I’m waiting for the 10:54 flight from Houston because apparently, the bag is on there. I’m bummed I’m missing practice but if I can get my bag by 11:30, I should be able to catch the start of the first motos.
I never check a bag and haven’t for god knows how long but I’m leaving tomorrow (sun) for a week in Europe where I’ll be at Red Bull in Austria, checking out Akrapovic in Slovania and then finally going to the German GP next Sunday. Hence the checked bag.
Continental has assured me that at no time can they give me any assurances that my bag will be on this flight. But they did give me a food voucher for six whole dollars, which I used at Au Bon Pain for an orange juice and a cookie. If you read “Observations from the Pittsburgh Airport” on Wednesday, now you will know why. Here’s a picture of the action.
This isn’t Mt Morris and that’s not Chad Reed or Ryan Dungey. That’s what I’ve been looking at for the last three hours. The joys of travelling… |
