QUOTES
Stefan Everts: “I had a very good day. In the first moto I did a good start and I had the feeling I could win. In the second moto it was crazy on the track, there were riders everywhere and Pedro Gonzalez simply smoked us. We had a good battle. That was fun. We need to support the sport in Mexico. Today the 10 of us played around for the crowd and they enjoyed it.”
Pedro Gonzalez: “This race is all about fun you know. It was great to win in front of the Mexican crowd. It’s an awesome feeling. In a country like Mexico we need races like that. When I used to race professional back in the 90’s, I was the guy that people was looking up to. Now there is nobody. It’s important to show to the next generation that riding is fun.”
Long time rivals Seb Tortelli and Stefan Everts go at it. |
David Vuillemin: “I was the third fastest guy during practice but I had some trouble with my front brake in both motos. I couldn’t break at all. Other than that he races were fun and the fans enjoyed seeing us playing with each other on the track. I don’t care about the results, I’m out of shape, I’m not ready to ride 20 minutes but it’s great to be here with my fellow competitors.”
Sean Hamblin: “We had a lot of fun today. I could have used a better bike but that’s ok I made the most of it. So far the Mexican crowd embraced us. It’s great to see all those people showing up for us. I’m having a ball and I can’t wait for tomorrow. I want to ride again!”
I see Jason Thomas got his usual start. |
Jason Thomas: “The airline company lost my bag so I was a little bit worried before the first moto. It finally arrived and all was good from there. The track was a little bit muddy at first but it came around and it was great. It’s the first time I ride with Stefan Everts, that’s a neat experience. There is no pressure. Everybody is taking care of us pretty well and the fans love the show.”
Antonio Balbi: “It was so much fun to ride with Stefan Everts and Sebastien Tortelli. I’m happy for Pedro Gonzalez who won the second moto. In the last lap I was right behind him, I got very close but I couldn’t pass him. I broke my wrist two months ago and it is my first race coming back. I didn’t want to take any risk. It is still very sore but I’ll ride tomorrow anyway.”
Sebastien Tortelli: “As the co promoter of the event with Nicolas Espana, today was a tough day. It rained a lot, the track was in bad shape in the morning but we fixed it before the first moto. Promoting a race like that is really demanding there are so many things going on. The 9 invited riders seem happy about the event, we had fun with each other on the track and the fans loved every second of it so I’m happy. Let’s do it better tomorrow.”
Lots of race wins right here folks. Can you name all the moto celebs? |
