First and foremost, thank you to all of you who make it possible for all things PulpMX to continue on.
First and foremost, thank you to all of you who make it possible for all things PulpMX to continue on. You do this in many ways. Supporting our sponsors, hits on the website, word of mouth and apparently, the biggest show of support; getting us locked out of our web server. This post is an attempt to fill you in on “the dealio”.
We’ve been tracking the podcasts, Pulpcasts and PulpMX Show streams
and downloads for years and the stats show steady growth from the beginning through today. Last week marked the first time that our current hosting provider, 1and1, informed us that our bandwidth had been “grossly exceeded with terabytes of data transferred” and that we had entered a grace period which required us to move to a dedicated server or to stop offering the shows. Through many emails and phone calls that ranged from “we’re not sure why the site is down”, to “we didn’t do anything” and finally, “yes your server is locked and we are not going to unlock it until you remove the shows or purchase a dedicated server”. We had already obtained a dedicated server through another provider and have been hoping to coordinate the new PulpMX site launch with the move to the dedicated server. That’s clearly not an option right now.
You’ll see the PulpMX site and ProMotoTalk site are now online again but there’s still trouble. 1and1 unlocked the server only after we removed all the archived shows from them. They are in the process of being uploaded to the dedicated server where they will be permanently housed and available. Somehow during the unlock of the server, 1and1 mangled our FTP accounts and we presently have no access to the files which deliver all the shows to all the various delivery methods we use. Simply stated this means, we can’t re-link the shows to their new location or add new shows until they figure out what happened to our FTP accounts as all the files are on the 1and1 server, which we now have no access to; even though it appears normal when you go to the website. 1and1’s support is mind-numbingly incompetent to say the least.
Just keep an eye on twitter and we’ll post the progress as it is made. Trust us, as frustrated as you are, we were there a week ago.
Thanks again for the support folks!
