As Randy Richardson liked to say ‘These colors don’t run…also”You know I got a text from John Knowles after the race telling me that the conditions at Redbud were where Scott shines b**ches.Kevin Windham was back and in a big way. It was awesome to see him there and he didn’t even cut his beard off.Captain Canada Gauldy was not there for the medal ceremony for third in the PBoN. Too bad.Damon Bradshaw was there and that was cool.We just about saw it all at Redbud.The “best retired racer ever” talks to Canada’s Colton Facciotti about the upcoming race #teammatesThe metal grates proved to be troublesome to the USA racers and they really didn’t get one start all weekend.Alessandro Lupino had this happen to him off the start in moto two and recovered to run top three for most of the moto.Jorge Prado was the breakout star of the weekend in winning the MX2 class and going 3-3 in his two motos.Hunter Lawrence was the breakout star last year at this race and this year went 5-2 overall and second in MX2. Great ride in the third moto for the GEICO kid.Barcia looked like he was trying hard, he seemed like he was going fast but it just never came together for him at Redbud. Too bad for him, he’s now 0-3 at MXDN’s.Fan support at Redbud was a bit nutty for sure.Roczen’s qualifying race where he finished second was about the highlight for him at this race. Most AMA-based riders didn’t have great days at a track they know well.Maybe the best AMA-based ride came from this guy Dylan Ferrandis but even he said after the race he wasn’t stoked with his third overall in MX2.Tony Cairoli smoked the Saturday qualifier then had Italy winning the whole thing with five minutes to go until he tossed his goggles and got passed by a couple of guys including Paulin. Then Lupino got tired and that was all she wrote for the Italians.Ben Watson’s been a big surprise this year in the GP’s and he continued his impressive performances at this race.Eli Tomac’s first moto showed some promise for sure considering he was on the outside gate but that was about it for Team USA. The mechanical issue on Saturday on the new 2019 was a disaster in terms of PR.I don’t know where the Aaron Plessinger that I watched all summer was but this was definitely not him.The self proclaimed Fastest Man on the Planet (in motocross)? I mean, you can’t really argue with that right?All the Dutch needed to win the race was a thirtieth or so placing from this man in one moto in MX2 but unfortunately he got a rock in the eye and couldn’t race either moto. So close!Again, the big hit of the weekend were these two guys.This was where Canada’s great weekend turned into just a good one. Tyler Medaglia was killing it in moto two then he crashed, his bike blew up and that was all she wrote.Gauthier Paulin was again very good at a MXDN. Shocker right? France won again.Maybe Glenn Coldenhoff is the fastest man on the planet (in outdoors?). I don’t know man but he ride great also.YEAH YEAH, FRANCE WON AGAIN.GOT IT. See you in Assen…
