It’s one of my all-time favorites and actually I remember being nine when it came out and down in Grand Forks, ND with my family. We all decided to go to the movie "Creepshow" but I freaked out when the dude started coming out of the grave in the first ten minutes and begged my way out of it. That’s when I went next door to First Blood and I got the better end of the deal, no doubt about it.

The movie was filmed in Hope, British Columbia and when my buddy Fireman Ron and I were driving to Kamloops for the Canadian national we drove right by Hope. I made him stop and we went into town to see what we could find. We wandered into a Dairy Queen and asked the girl there (who was probably not born when it came out) and she said, yeah most of the stores had been knocked down but we could go see the bridge where the evil sheriff drops John Rambo off at in the first little bit of the movie. She gave us a map and we were on our way!
Check it out…
This is from my DVD of the movie and shows Sly Stallone walking back into town after the sheriff drove him across and told him to get lost. He wasn’t going to take it anymore and was tired of getting pushed around. |
Here’s Fireman Ron walking the same way as Sly did all those years ago. We had to hurry and rush the shot because their were cars coming. As a matter of fact one guy stopped to let us take this picture and when Ron walked by him he said "Rambo bridge" and the dude was like, "OH YEAH, I know, go ahead, no big deal." Clearly it was a big deal in Hope and still is. This was cool, I don’t care what you guys think. |
