We had a little bit of rain and a little bit of sun, the return of a pair of legendary riders and Phil’s first Canadian MX win. Here’s what went down at the sandy Deschambault track, in the heart of the French Canadian province of Quebec…
The day started off with sunshine in the morning, but the forecasts were not looking good.
The ageless John Dowd made another yearly appearance at the Deschambault National.
5-time Canadian Champ, Jean Sebastien Roy, goes over some race footage with his Red Bull KTM Thor Racing riders.
Jayce Pennington has been racing the Eastern portion of the MX Tour series and grabbed his first Moto podium with third in the first 250 Moto. He finished 6th overall on the day.
Aaron Zielfelder finished with 23-21 Moto finishes.
Marshall Weltin finished just off the podium, in 4th place.
Luke Renzland had a tough first Moto, crashing on his way to 8th, but came back in Moto two to have a great battle with Dylan Wright, taking his second Moto win of the season.
A consistent day for the points leader, Dylan Wright, who grabbed second in both motos. He heads into the final round with a 38 point lead.
Degan Palmer finished the day in 13th overall, with 15-17 Moto scores.
Since the three week break between the West and East portions of the schedule, Jess Pettis has been improving every weekend. The defending champ finally broke through at Deschambault to take the Moto win and his first overall win of the season.

Phil Nicoletti(54), Mike Alessi(800) and Colton Facciotti(1) lead the way on the 450 start.
Chase Marquier ended his day in the top ten, going 12-7 for 9th overall.
A top 20 for the 50+ class legend, as John Dowd rode to a pair of 15th place finishes.
Joining Dowdy in his Canadian adventure was another New England legend and former top Canadian National racer, Keith Johnson. The man who runs the Southwick track finished 21st in Moto one but had bike troubles in Moto two and dropped out.
To complete the New England/Canadian road trip, Mike Treadwell came along to run the pit board for KJ.
The first Moto saw Matt Goerke in a 4-way battle for the podium, ultimately finishing 4th. In the second Moto, a bad start forced Goerke to work up through the pack, finishing in 8th, for 4th overall.
While his dad came up just to race Deschambault, Ryan Dowd has been racing the entire Canadian series this year. He had his best finish of the year, grabbing 5th overall.
Colton Facciotti made it a close race with Nicoletti in Moto two, finishing second by a bike length. His 5-2 finishes gave him third overall. He’s got a slim 14 point lead heading into the final round at Walton.
Cade Clason finished 7th overall with 7-6 Moto scores.
Michael Fowler grabbed 21st overall.
Bobby Piazza had a solid race, finishing 8th overall.
Mike Alessi has been coming on strong in the East and rode to the first Moto win. Blisters gave him trouble hanging on to the bike in Moto two and he finished 3rd, for second overall.
It was a tight finish but Phil Nicoletti finally got his first Canadian win.
After all the drama at Sand Del Lee, it was good to see a mending of the fences at Deschambault.
Phil is beyond excited to get the win.
